To adorn is to absorb a force or an attribute of things we take on.Plucking some flowers and adorning our hair with them; this action can be described as taking in their vital spirits as well as the beauty of them.Intense aspiration of adorning is tinged with an element of aggressiveness, which desires even lives of others. And, a temptation of beautifying has no end .Obsession with beauty is often regarded as a feminine preoccupation. However, the frame has similarity to the obsession for assimilation of others, and in that context, it is universal.Overmuch dressing leaves a sense of vanity behind. Probably because at the moment we assimilate others, they are not “others” anymore.
「装う」という行為は、対象物の力や属性を吸収するという行為ではないだろうか。
花を手折って髪に飾る、それは花の美しさのみならず生命力をも取り込もうとする行為と言えよう。装うことへの強い願望には、他者の命すら欲する攻撃性が潜んでいる。そして、より美しくありたい、という衝動には終わりがない。美しさへの執念は女性の美への執着ととらえられることが多い。しかしその執念を、他者をとりこみたい願望、という視点から見れば、それは人間に共通する普遍性を帯びてくる。
過剰に装った状態は晴れやかさと、一種のむなしさとを併せもっている。他者は取り込んだ瞬間に他者ではなくなってしまうからなのかもしれない。
